 Rune was born into the human world sometime during the 18th century in Wallachia, Romania.During his toddler years, the family farm was engulfed in fire and everything and everyone belonging to the family was destroyed, that is, except for Rune, although he was horribly burned and disfigured. Rune was raised by his poor cousin, Calin. Calin kept Rune sheltered, as most folk were disturbed by his appearance. As Rune grew, he learned how cruel humans can be, he had no friends and knew nothing of normal social behavior. He never learned right from wrong, and knew only how to hate. Rune began to lash out at the townsfolk, at first random acts of vandalism, but it quickly escalated into violent destructive behavior. The townsfolk revolted and came to Calin's home with torches to rid their town of Rune. They were greeted not by Calin, not by Rune, but by a horribly disfigured vampire, a member of the Nosferatu clan, known as Ravanos. The vampire ravaged the entire town, including Calin, and spared only Rune, choosing to take him into his immortal embrace and make him his eternal companion. The transformation into a vampire was painful, it completed his disfiguration, and also completed the disintegration of his mortal conscious. Once the transformation was complete, the two Nosferatu brothers went underground, as is tradition with the Nosferatu clan. They lived mostly off sewer rats and stray animals. But civilization was expanding rapidly, cities growing, roads being built, it grew more difficult to hide from the humans. The pair was eventually discovered, and in a rare act of emotion, Ravanos sacrificed himself so that Rune could escape. Since that night, Rune has roamed the earth a lonely soul, dedicated to inflicting revenge upon the human race for killing the only being whom he had ever called friend. Rune is known for taunting his victims, slowly creeping upon them, and enjoying the terror he inflicts just by his appearance. So when you hear a bump in the night, it might not be the wind, it may be Rune coming to claim your soul! |
